Was there time for reflection?

  • Yes, since the seminar lasted for 3 days we could try out things in practice rooms
  • Yes, but normally the time for reflection comes after the fact, in daily life; therefore a “second round” after a few weeks would be helpful

Did the workshop change you in any way?

  • The way I approach difficult passages of a piece
  • The whole way I approach my instrument and how I learn
  • Yes, several things…

  • Yes, my practising patterns

What have you learned? What experiences will you take away?

  • How to develop a good body- and sound-feeling
  • Many new ideas; I’m looking forward to experimenting and exploring
  • More trust in what I feel, my sensations, my body-feeling; courage to focus on implicit-procedural rather than explicit-analytical learning
  • The workshop gives you a lot of ideas to help you break free from your daily practising routines
  • Flow. Don’t practise. Have fun playing and treat your body well
  • A lot; it changes the whole practising process

How will the seminar help you in your studies?

  • I will focus much more on my physical well-being while playing; I can then improve the quality of my playing
  • It enhances effectiveness and practising is more fun
  • A lot, especially in my lessons
  • I want to experiment and explore
  • Profoundly

How did the seminar enrich you personally and creatively?

  • New motivation
  • It opens up resources, playful exploration with fun and humour in my daily practice
  • It sensitizes you and even enhances your awareness of sensory experiences in your daily life
  • The seminar opens up ways to understanding yourself better and expressing yourself artistically
  • I have fun experimenting with single notes, striving for my perfect sound and playing around with it
  • I enjoy my practising much more and I have many ideas of how I want to experiment with my music

Further remarks

  • Professors should attend this seminar too
  • Perhaps individual lessons should be videotaped so that the students get a more objective picture of their practising
  • Utterly valuable days to which I had been looking forward. They will have a profound impact on my life as a musician
  • I would vote for another workshop with Mr Burzik
  • Definitely worth repeating
