Crisis Intervention for Musicians

Crisis intervention for musicians is based on extensive experience in the field of psychological and psychotherapeutical counseling for lay and professional musicians. Apart from my own experience and my training in psychology, an important source of understanding has been my background as a professional violinist and violin teacher since 1983. My study on "Flow-Experiences of Orchestral Musicians" and my work as mental coach at the Academy of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Munich, led to an in-depth knowledge of the problems faced by musicians in professional orchestras.

The main issues in counselling are

  • Mitigation and loosening of mentally-caused muscular tension
  • Working through performance anxiety
  • Methods of stress reduction
  • Counselling conflicts with colleagues
  • Changing internalized attitudes impeding free self-expression
  • Respectful and careful processing of personal burdens
